Jesus Rebuked His Disciples - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today’s Gospel Reading is Mark 16:9-15
Today’s reading is a quick summary of what has happened over the last few days. Jesus appears to the disciples and actually rebukes those who haven’t believed their brothers about His Resurrection. What’s amazing is that Jesus still gives the Great Commission to those same disciples.
As we approach Pentecost pray that the Lord would prepare us for our mission, to go out and bring the good news to all creatures of the earth.

Jump Out of the Boat! - Daily Gospel Reflection.

Today’s Gospel Reading is John 21:1-14
Peter and the apostles have gone fishing. They know the truth but they go back to their old way of life and they catch nothing. Sound familiar?
Let us not return to an old way of life, to the old ways. Return to Christ, who is always calling you to Him.

Jesus is Calling YOU to Bear Witness - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today’s Gospel Reading is from Luke 24
Jesus appears to all the disciples after the He appears to the two on the road to Emmaus. He eats in front of them and reminds them of their duty to bear witness.
Wherever you are, you are called to bear witness as well.

The Road to Emmaus - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today’s Gospel Reading is the Road to Emmaus from Lk 24.
The two disciples are walking to Emmaus. Jesus walks with them, but they don’t recognize Him. As they walk, Jesus opens up the Scriptures for them, but they still don’t recognize Him. It is only after sharing the Eucharistic meal, that they finally recognize Jesus.
It is in the Eucharist that we recognize the Risen Jesus. It is before Christ in the Eucharist that we hear the Lord’s voice.
May this Gospel inspire us to spend time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration.

Do Not Cling To Me? - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today’s Gospel Reading is John 20:11-18
Jesus tells Mary Magdalene not to cling to Him, because, in a way, she is clinging to her past experiences with Jesus. Nonetheless, Jesus is calling Mary to spiritual maturity. The tomb is empty, now she must go and bear witness.
Do we cling to our past experiences with the Lord? We too are called to bear witness to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!

How Did You Leave Mass on Easter MONDAY? - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today is the Monday of the Octave of Easter. We join Mary Magdalene in Mt 28 as she leaves the garden. She and her companions are rejoicing and paying him homage, but as they do, Jesus immediately sends them on a mission “go and tell my brothers”.
Is this how we leave Mass? Do we go and tell all who will hear that Christ has Risen? All who know Christ are called to bear Him witness.
Today we are sent out to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet!

Happy Easter! Alleluia, Jesus Christ Has Risen!  Today is the day that we have to confront the reality of the empty tomb. Christ is alive and He has defeated our sin and death, so our sin has no power over us!
Today we celebrate that Jesus has risen and the tomb is empty!

Waiting in the Silence for Christ to Rise - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today is Holy Saturday so there is no Mass until the Easter Vigil. Today we wait in silence. Even though we are waiting, we are waiting afterwards, because we KNOW the end of the story. We know the Resurrection is upon us. Today we prepare for new life.

Stand with Mary and John Under the Cross - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today is Good Friday. Today we enter into the silence, standing at the foot of the Cross. What can we possibly say to our Lord, hanging on the cross. By His wounds we are healed, but by our sins He is afflicted.
When we look at the cross, we need to see our own sins. As we stand with the Blessed Virgin and the Beloved Disciple, we need to also see the depth of His love.
Our sin put Him there, but His love kept Him there.

Holy Thursday & The Last Supper - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today’s Gospel Reading is from the Gospel of John.
Today is Holy Thursday. Fr. Sam teaches about the two different Masses that are celebrated today, the Chrism Mass and the Mass of the Lord’s Supper.
At the Lord’s Supper Jesus Institutes the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. It says in the Gospel that Jesus loves his disciples to the end. Today let us pray for the Lord’s priests, that they too would love until the end, being witnesses to the love and mercy of Jesus.

Judas is looking for his day to betray Jesus, that’s why it is called Spy Wednesday. How often have we gone looking for sin or chosen sin? Instead let us walk with Jesus, carry our crosses with Him, seeking everlasting Glory.

In today’s reading we are invited into the Upper Room. Judas Flees from Jesus after having taken the morsel of bread from Jesus. This reminds us how close we can be to Jesus and still reject Him. How easily do we choose to run into the dark instead of remaining in the light of Christ?
Let us run towards Christ, the Light of the World.

“Hosannah to the Son of David”. The people welcome Jesus to Jerusalem, thinking he is their kind of Messiah. They will not even one week later, yell “crucify Him, crucify Him”.
We are called to enter into Jesus’s suffering, to stand underneath the cross with Mary and Joseph.

Jesus has taken the step back, having completed His teaching mission. We’ve now arrived at the Passover. Just as the Jews sacrifice the lamb, Jesus, the true Lamb is preparing to be the voluntary sacrifice of Merciful Love.

The Woman Caught in Adultery - Daily Gospel Reflection

Today’s Gospel Reading is John 8:1-11
The sinful woman has been caught in the act of adultery. The scribes and the pharisees are ready to stone this woman, but only He who is sinless, Jesus, can cast the first stone. Importantly, Jesus does NOT do this. Rather Jesus doesn’t condemn this woman and instructs her (and us) “go and sin no more”. So too, we, having been saved by Christ, must go and sin no more.
